Closet Prep Instructions
Any good closet makeover begins with cleaning house and getting rid of anything that you know no longer suits you or makes you feel beautiful. By following the simple closet-clearing process outlined below, you will not only save money by making our sessions shorter and more efficient, but your makeover will begin immediately!
Empty out your entire closet. I mean everything.
Wash down any shelves. Vacuum and wash the floor. Cleanse with sage stick.
Go through all items of clothing and dump the D-list. Place in bags for donation.
C-list items are those things you know no longer suit you but are expensive, never worn and suitable for consignment or give-away to friends. Put in their own piles and remove from closet area.
If you don’t already own them, purchase matching hangers for your wardrobe. Do not use wire hangers – ever.
One piece at a time, place the A-list items back in your closet organized by category. For instance, hang gym clothes separate from work clothes and evening clothes.
Organize clothes by color within each category.
Be sure to hang all clothing facing the same direction.
Place all B-list items aside to go through for our appointment. B-list items are things that might be the right color, fit you but may be out of style, nothing wrong but you just don't know why you don't wear it...
If you have dressers, follow the same process as above.
If you have any questions, call or email me.
For Appointment Day:
Open all windows and get air circulating in the room.
Please have healthy snacks and water available in our work area.
Be emotionally prepared to let things go.
Get plenty of rest the evening before. Clothes carry emotional weight and purging can take energy.
We will need to take regular breaks.
